Description

NB – as a confirmation of the full analog source, you can observe the coda of So What: in the 1992 remaster the track fades out after five bars, whereas in copy used here the ending extends to thirteen bars. This detail clearly documents the use of a different production stage from the one employed for the Wilder edition.

We know that the original tape was called “Job Reel C” and that tape was recorded at a slightly lower speed than standard (about 1,25%). The safety copy was identified as “Job Reel D” and it’s speed was correct. In 1992 Mark Wilder made a stereo downmix using a Presto 3 track tube deck, a modified GML mixer and a 2 track ATR 102
with Dolby SR, at 15ips. Our tape is a copy of that downmix, with 13 bars in the coda of So What.

The cover is not the original one due to agreements with the owner. The photo is from the session of KoB.

Some Comments:

“The CD is superb. Great sound compared to my Sony CD Japan MasterSound. I have recommended AudioNautes on social medias and my listeners group.”

“This takes the playback experience to a new level for me. The black space surrounding the instruments is incredibly clean and soft. I have never heard the woodwinds reedy sound in so much detail. The attack, reverb, and decay of the piano notes tickles my ears even at very low volume. Davis’s trumpet is sublime and I am hearing detail and emotion that I did not know existed on the edges of the notes he is blowing. – PA“

Done from a safety copy of the 1992 Mark Wilder remaster at the correct speed. Full analog process AAA.
