Description
This record marked Coltrane’s shift to modal language, which would later dominate his music. The sound is the Atlantic one, very different from Van Gelder’s Blue Note or Prestige, with a wider stereo image, with the instruments placed around it. A first clear difference is audible in the reprise of the piano, present and defined, unlike Van Gelder’s one.
